Cyber Bullies

I just heard that they are indicting the woman (Lori Drew) that was at the center of Meagan Meier's suicide. Justice is going to be served! I can't even begin to imagine how Meagan's parents must feel right now.

From what I have read about this whole thing, Lori was supposedly a "friend" of the Meiers and a neighbor. ((Gee, with friends like that you definitely don't need enemies.)) If she really thought that Meagan was talking trash about her daughter, then she should have had a "grown up" conversation with Meagan's parents. What kind of person gets the bright idea to create a Myspace account and pretend to be a teenage boy in hopes of gaining the girl's confidence and engaging her in conversation that would lead to her saying something negative about her own daughter?!? I mean, H-E-L-L-O. . . . what the heck was she thinking??!!!??? Yeah, that's really the grown up thing to do.

People seem to forget that words can be very hurtful when they are "hate filled" and to a teen, it can seem like the end of the world. It is bad enough when adults say things to each other, but to be an adult posing as a teen and hurting a child like that. . . well, it's just plain wrong! My prayers are with the parents of Meagan, the ordeal is far from over. But, at least justice is being served. . .right?

On the flipside of this story, I can't imagine how the Drews are handling this. Her husband and her daughter must feel incredibly ashamed that their mom & wife did such an awful thing. Her daughter was part of it, too, so I can't help but wonder if she feels bad? I mean, her mom supposedly said that she didn't feel that bad about Meagan's suicide, since she had attempted suicide before. W-H-A-T?!?! What kind of mother says something like that!? Obviously a mother that has some issues.

Opinions anyone?!?!
